ABOUT HISAR

 

The city of Hisar was founded by Firozshah Tughlaq in 1354 AD and is situated northwest of Delhi on National Highway No. 9 and is well connected by road and rail to Delhi. ‘Hisar’ is an Arabic word which means ‘Fort’ so it was called as ‘Hisar Firoza’ (also Hisar-e-Firoza). The Hisar has many places to visit like Ancient Gumbad, Agroha, Rakhigarhi Mound, Baradari, Barsi Gate (Hansi), Durgah Char Qutab (Hansi) and Feroz Shah’s Palace. Hisar is emerged as a big education hub with four universities and much state, central and ICAR institutes. It is well connected with rail and road routed. University campus is about 3 km away from railway station and 4 km away from bus stand. Nearest airports are New Delhi (186 km away) and Chandigarh (around 250 km away).
