About Anna University:
Anna University was established on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of university. It was recognised by UGC as a University with Potential for Excellence and identified by MHRD as an Institute of Eminence. Comprising of 4 University Departments, 16 Constituent Colleges and 494 Affiliated Colleges. Anna University offers 84 UG and 171 PG Programmes in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Applied Sciences. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained therefrom, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities. Anna University is one of the top-ranked technical universities in India and it drives the purpose of providing quality education and improving competence among students thereby living up to its motto, ‘Progress Through Knowledge’. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Ranking 2023, Anna University is ranked 13th in the Engineering and Research categories, 14th in the University category and 18th in the overall category among the various Universities/Institutions that took part in the NIRF 2023 in India. In the QS World University Rankings 2024, Anna University stands at 427.
About Centre for Research:
Centre for Research has been functioning from the inception of Anna University in 1978, offering research programmes in different branches of Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Planning, Science and Humanities and Management Sciences leading to the award of Ph.D./M.S. (By Research)/(M.S.+Ph.D.) degrees. Centre for Research facilitates admission to Ph.D./M.S (By Research)/M.S.+ Ph.D. programme twice a year. Around 13,800 research scholars are currently pursuing research. Around 6300 teaching staff/experts are recognized as supervisors by the centre for guiding Research Scholars.
